Just pulled this from my LP shelf. Filed under Houston and there between Mars Needs Guitars by Hoodoo Gurus and Don’t Stop by Billy Idol. For 80s kids like me, her perfecto pop singles knocked down the snob walls and got in there with my W-LIR new wave: like Madonna and Michael. This one still has some killer, mostly slow jams (and “How Will I Know” of course) I still DJ every once in a while. Nobody really expects to hear them anymore when I do. Now they’ll be inescapable again. Wonder how many shout outs she will get tomorrow night at Grammys. Dozens and dozens, I suspect. RIP and condolences. So sad.
