what a great version of this song. i devoted a whole chapter to “as tears go by.” finished a rough version of it today. felt like it was the first (and maybe only, discounting “some girls”) track that frank sinatra (or morrissey) could have sung but dad’d be hard pressed to top this nancy version. bossa nova cocktail lounge… with feeling. i don’t think there’s nothin’ kitsch about it.
