have been receiving some really cool responses via the facebook and twitter sites. the top photo is from a pair of sisters at a Borders in Puerto Rico. serious Bowie fans who seemed really exited to buy and read the book. the latter from a graphic designer who redesigned my cover (and my first name) for me. thanks to everyone for taking the time to contact me. i’ve been receiving everything and would love to hear what both (and all) of you think of the book.
AND if any of you get the notion, why not post a customer review on amazon to accompany the one that’s currently there courtesy of some uptight German cat (who you know was super psyched to be the first one to post his two cents… probably rubbed his hands together and licked his lips like they were covered in currywurst grease…). didn’t even have the balls to give me one star. what’s star number two for, snoot? my good looks?
long, odd monday today. went on Pinfield’s radio show, which was cool. not sure when it’s airing. i thought it was live but it’s not. matt is a dude. all the old dudes. the guy seriously knows more about music than anyone i’ve ever met. more than i do. facts at his fingertips and a real passion for it all after years on the scene. inspirational. did another in depth chat with another rock n’ roll Comic Book Guy at united stations (i too am rock n’ roll Comic Book Guy lest this sound demeaning at all…it’s not). was a cool cat named Howie. and did an interview with a service that reads news to the blind and hearing impaired. hung christmas lights. bought an “artisinal” salami sandwich at the cafe and ran into my pal Andy Greenwald, ex Spin alumn and author of a pair of popular books about young people. cleaned up a lot of basset hound puke in front of the dry cleaners on Bleecker. then, around two thirty in the afternoon it got dark. dark like my thoughts when i read that amazon review.
trying to be of good cheer. Christmas proper better get here soon cause this long, nightmare before is wearing me down. thanks again to all the folks out there who are sending the positivity my way.
